With all the compact music players and speakers going on for the last couple of weeks, I thought I’d give you a first hand look at one of my favorite mini music systems that came out this summer.

And that’s from a company that was harshly criticized by a lot of audiophiles for the last couple of month due to several reasons, SONY. The unit model is named CMTSBT100  and I really took a liking to it from the first moment I saw it; and if you had one in front of you, you would understand why.

Like I said above, this unit from SONY came out this summer, but unfortunately it hasn't seen such an impressive amount of popularity within users and buyers thus far. Since it was made available for purchase online on June 17, 2013, the unit has yet to see any decent amount of reviews from users.

I see this unit serving people who love music, and want to have their favorite tunes playing around them all day long. Of course, I see this unit serving best those who live in a smaller apartment; not because it's not powerful enough for a larger space, but because its size looks and performs better in a small to mid-size room.

  • Powerful, dynamic sound
  • One-touch listening with NFC
  • None so far

The compact built and design of the SONY CMT-SBT100 comes packed with a total power of 50 watts RMS. Everything is delivered and servde by the S-Master amplifier circuitry that drives both the dual 2-way bass reflex speakers. The unit also comes with a BASS BOOST feature that helps you increase the low-end bass response. And you can do all this directly from the wireless remote control; you can also adjust the bass and treble settings directly from the wireless remote. From the looks of it, you won't believe this unit can produce such rich and full sound. I was probably the first time this year I was pleasantly surprised by such a sound system.

Now, as for streaming capabilities, this unit doesn't lack anything you might need around the apartment. Starting from the all mighty Bluetooth, and with the help of NFC's one-touch connect - this feature is more amazing than ever. Also enjoy a simplified CD playback, from your personal CDs or recorded CD-R and CD-RW discs. You can also enjoy local broadcasts with the built-in AM/FM tuner. The antenna is hidden on the back panel, where there is also a Aux input; you'll be able to to playback any type of external audio devices like MP3 players, tablets or other gadgets, hearing the the sound through the Sony CMTSBT100. And last but not least you get a front USB input you can use to connect and charge a wide range of devices; this is particularly convenient if you want to charge your smartphone while streaming content from it.

The unit is equipped with a front LCD display that provides you with source playback information, volume level, sound settings and clock. The unit comes with a wireless remote in the box, for a really convenient use; and an AM/FM antenna to ensure clear broadcast signals.

With every feature this unit comes packed with, and the quality and ease-of-use that comes with 'em make this unit a really great bargain. From where I'm standing, the compact contemporary design is no short of stunning, so that's another thing to consider if you set it up in a visible place. Overall, I highly recommend it!
