With a 4.9 star product rating on their official website, the Sonos SUB Wireless Subwoofer has truly made an impact on the wireless subwoofer scene. A thing we haven’t seen in a while is a higher-end ticket subwoofer sold separately from a soundbar or home theater system, and yet this product seems to be a hit.

Although the Sonos SUB Wireless Subwoofer is available for purchase in the Black Gloss color version for a while, the new Black Matte version was only made available for pre-order at Amazon on March 19, 2013. And at the moment I'm writing this review, it's $100 cheaper than the old version.

From my point of view this product is for someone looking to improve their audio system, preferably a soundbar system, and add a little "kick" to it. If you already own a Sonos Playbar this is a must buy for you.

  • Works with any mix of Sonos players
  • Fairly expensive for the average buyer

The SONOS SUB subwoofer will connect wirelessly to your Sonos audio system and fill in the low-end bass tones. This definitely amplify your music listening and TV watching experience. The guys from SONOS promise an "all sound, zero vibration experience"; that's why they equipped this unit with two force-cancelling speakers positioned face-to-face. So every bit of music comes through loud and clear. Frequency response: plays down to 25 Hz.

Just like the SONOS PlayBar the SUB will stream for free over 100,000 free radio stations, shows, and podcasts. You'll get access to access to millions of songs and thousands of radio stations without even turning on your computer. You can also play music stored on up to 16 PCs, Macs or NAS, while also being able to wirelessly stream the music from your iPod or iPhone with the SONOS DOCK, which unfortunately is sold separately.

Even though it's fairly heavy than expected for its size, it's really easy to set it up. Some people like to use the free Sonos Controller apps for Android, iPhone and iPad to contol their players, music and pair devices. The packaging is top notch, nothing but the best (like all other SONOS products).

If the easy set-up and top notch packaging doesn't justify the money, you should just take a "test drive" with this Sonos SUB and see how it feels like. I know for sure you'll fall in love with its audio capabilities. I truly recommend it for entry level buyers who can afford it, as well as for any audiophile out there.
