I don’t usually take an interest or review Sharp products, only because my readers never showed and interest in this particular brand when it comes to audio equipment. But this Sharp GX-M10 really caught my interest by its out of the ordinary design.

People have been caring less and less about design, and going for minimal-type audio systems that match every surrounding without much effort. But Sharp seems to be gambling on a younger, different type of crowd.

This unit was recently made available by the guys at Sharp. It was first made available for purchase at Amazon on April 1, 2013, and it's currently selling with a small discount. There are some raving reviews from said buyers scattered on the Internet, though I am not sure all of them are real, this unit is not such a bad investment from what I've seen thus far.

This unit will more likely benefit only Apple users who need a docking station that comes with some bass performance. And although it looks like not much has bee made with it, is comes with a full set of features a lot of audio systems lack.

Pros:
  • Protected docking enclosure
  • Microphone and guitar mixing inputs
Cons:
  • Can't switch between dock and USB if both are connected

The Sharp GX-M10 delivers 100 Watts of total power. Comes in a portable audio system form, equipped with Dual subwoofers and a cylindrical shape with a woofer at each end. To ensure low frequency performance the unit comes with bass enhancement circuitry. Some of the unique features I was talking about earlier include a guitar and microphone input, along with mixing capabilities. This type of features make this a full featured audio device. I've seen units higher-priced than this one who lacked such "jamming feature"; being portable I find them really cool and enjoyable.

The reason I mentioned that the unit will most likely serve Apple product users is because the Sharp GX-M10 comes with a built-in docking feature for iPod and iPhone. On the front of the unit, a USB port is presented which can be used to hook up your iPad or stream music from any USB storage device. Some other streaming capabilities this unit presents are pretty ordinary, like a CD player that can handle MP3 and WMA file playback, and also an FM tuner (no direct Internet radio option).

The entire package comes with a full-function remote control. And it also comes with a shoulder strap that makes it easy to carry the audio system around making this a real portable music player. Some reviewers even called this the Boom Box of 2013.

Overall the sound quality is exceptional for its size, the bass powerful is definitely not to be neglected. And above all, if the design is working for you, I see no reason why not to check it out.
