Lately I’ve been taking an interest in rugged, outdoor type wireless portable speakers; I have also reviewed a few in the last couple of weeks and posted some of the reviews on the website. This Pyle unit I wanted to make sure you check out is definitely a lot like the Philips SB7220 Shoqbox; and what I mean by that is the fact that both go for the same look, same utility and same target audience.

A lot of the wireless portable speaker arena has shifted its focus to a more outdoorsy targeted client base. This unit makes no difference, and since its recent release has been showing signs of real popularity within that crowd; it's been made available for purchase at Amazon on March 8, 2013 and has already gotten some pretty amazing reviews from users.

One can only guess that the majority of people looking for, or purchasing such a unit have the interest to take outside and play with it. I see no reason why someone looking to use indoors should buy this particular speaker; there are other options far superior in design and features for indoor use. This unit is definitely something you want to take with you on a hiking/biking trip.

Well, I guess the number one feature, the one considered to be the unit's hook is definitely its rugged, weather resistant rubber and metal design encasement structure. Basically this unit was built to last, and to deliver quality sound for many years and "bumps" to come. The shock resistant and water-proof design features are Marine grade, making this unit perfect not only for garages, construction sites, but camping, mountain-biking, hiking and rafting as well. Although perfect for some backyard poolside fun, I don't recommend submerging this unit under water completely, this was meant to survive spills, drops and rain, not shipwrecks. The resistant metal hook loop makes the Pyle Home PWPBT60 easy to attach to any karabiner, chain, backpack or wire; this way you won't have to worry about it getting lost.

When it comes to audio performance I have nothing to complain about. I have seen some a few users surprised that find out that each one of the two active drivers is also equipped with a passive radiator on the reverse side for better low frequency performance. The Bass output is outstanding for its size, and the unit is loud enough all around. The Pyle Home PWPBT60 is equipped with dedicated stereo speakers for Lows and High/Mids on both sides, and users say it even sounds better than higher priced competitors like Jambox. One thing that really got me interested in this unit was the fact that most customers praise the Bluetooth connection that seems to pick up signal immediately and without a hitch; this makes it easy for you to stream music from any portable Bluetooth compatible device.

Although most portable speakers tend to incorporate features that cut out the need of buttons, this unit does the exact opposite. The guys from Pyle Home incorporated in the PWPBT60, easy push button controls for a more suitable and practical outdoor user experience. The powerful, rechargeable Lithium 1400mA battery also helps with outside usage (USB charging cable included).

Basically, this unit offers you the robustness an outside portable speaker should offer, alongside a quality audio delivery system. No real complains have been made, and I see no reason why this shouldn't be considered one of the best outdoor Bluetooth speakers so far this year. Totally recommended.
