A little while back I wrote a report on the SC-HC58’s predecessor, the Panasonic SC-HC57 Audio System which many users complained about after upgrading it from a SC-HC55. Well you know the main reason I reviewed the previous unit is its look, but if you loved any of these Mini audio systems, I’m 100% sure you won’t regret upgrading to to this one (SC-HC58). Basically it brings each and every feature the older models lacked, so you won’t have anything to complain about. Although I would have liked to see some ingenious changes in design and physical adaptability, this unit still looks and performs great.

This new "micro" music system from Panasonic, called SC-HC58 was released this year and was first made available for purchase at Amazon a few days ago on March 31, 2013. At the moment I'm writing this, the unit can only be shipped within the U.S; and it comes with free shipping.

Just like their rivals from Sony, the guys from Panasonic have shown that you don't have to invest a fortune in audio equipment to enjoy high quality music in your own home. This unit was developed especially for that, for music lovers who don't have the space or budget to invest into high-ticket items for the sole purpose of music listening.

Pros:
  • Bluetooth Re-Master tecnology
  • Direct-Vocal Surround feature
Cons:
  • No Surround or Simulated Surround sound

Just like the older model in its class, the Panasonic SC-HC58's number one feature is its data streaming capability and variety of options. The unit still features AirPlay (stream your entire iTunes library), DNLA, and can wirelessly stream music from anywhere in the room. But this new model also features an option the older ones lacked: Bluetooth Wireless technology. You know have a larger variety of streaming options to choose from than ever before. It's a rare thing to get all these in one little, slim music player. You can now stream music from a larger variety of gadgets and devices like smartphones, tablets and your PC. The unit can still be operated with the Music Streaming App that gives you better and easier control over your content and Playback choices.

The Panasonic SC-HC58 features the same world-class Bamboo Cone speaker this music player class is known for. And above all, the new model comes with the Pure Direct Sound technology which makes it worth every penny. What this feature basically does is, it acts like noise-canceling technology, minimizes the distortion caused by scattering surfaces by using digital signal processing.

A feature many will love is the USB slot charging capability for your Apple devices like iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5, while also being able to stream music. And above this, the Panasonic SC-HC58 is Energy Star Qualified for natural resources conservation.

Skeptical people will say that no major modifications have been made, and not enough features were added to its physical properties as well as performance. But I don't mind people who look for gold in all the wrong places, this is a great device and will most likely make a lot of music lovers happy. The Bluetooth feature alone will make all the difference and that's the main reason I recommend it.
