The only soundbar from Klipsch I ever reviewed was the Klipsch HD Theater SB 3 Soundbar, but some people have been asking me about the more affordable version, the Klipsch Icon SB1 Soundbar System and thought I’d give it a look, see what other people are saying and report back to you.

This unit, Klipsch Icon SB1 Soundbar System, became available for purchase at Amazon at the beginning of the year on January 30, 2013. Currently not ranking high in the best seller rank, but I think things will change soon.

People who want to get more out of the TV watching experience will most likely start searching into higher-end ticket items, once they start being more and more affordable. And this unit is one of the main choices when looking into affordable high-fidelity units.

  • Includes 4.9ft (1.5m) digital optical cable
  • Klipsch's typical full, rich bass
  • Poor volume stepping (too few volume levels)

The guys from Klipsch say that the Icon SB 1 soundbar with wireless subwoofer is the first of its kind to come with their founder’s horn-loaded technology, which they say it's revolutionary. A big plus from this feature alone is the high range of sound it delivers, letting you enjoy details you otherwise would have missed. The vocal clarity is also noticeably increased than with other similar systems. The Klipsch Icon SB1 Soundbar System offers each channel its own horn-loaded tweeter as well as dual midbass drivers to minimize the distortion and even sound dispersion. The 10-inch wireless subwoofer will connect automatically with the soundbar making the setup process a "joke" while delivering deep quality bass (something Klipsch always proud themselves with).

The Klipsch Icon SB1 Soundbar System is also 3D Surround enabled. Like any other quality sound bar, the SB1 can simulate an enjoyable surround sound system experience while being placed in every corner of the room. Personally I would have liked to see more features for the 3D/surround sound optinons, but still the fact that you can hear a difference and enjoy it takes the Klipsch Icon SB1 Soundbar System to another level than other soundbars.

The Icon SB 1 is extremely easy to hookup to basically any TV and comes with its own remote while at the same time it easily trains to your TV remote for basic controls like volume and mute.

Overall a very decent unit, excellent on some stats. If it fits in your budget and you want to check out a soundbar system, I recommend it. Though I truly think you can get the most out of it by using it in smaller rooms, I don't think using it in a bigger environment will hurt its sound delivery capacity much.
