JBL, the heritage of performance is back. The JBL J22i High-Performance In-Ear Headphones with Microphone are no exception from JBL’s standards of quality and performance.

Although JBL are renowned for their high power bass speakers and auto stereo components, it seems like high-fidelity and natural tones are not something they lack in their latest products. And this goes for the JBL J22i In-Ear Headphones also.

Recently added on Amazon, these little in-ear headphones have already made a blast within Apple's fan base. Unfortunately, for the time being the JBL J22i High-Performance In-Ear Headphones with Microphone are only shipped within the United States.

WARNING: The three-button remote feature with the built-in microphone only works for Apple products; recent iPod series and iPhone. It may be confusing for some, and you might end up with a perfectly good set of headphones but can't enjoy all of its features.

Pros:
  • Delivers precise, clean sound
  • Stylish tinted silicone sleeves and sandblasted metal alloy housing rims
Cons:
  • The in-line control remote is very close to the mouth, which makes the buttons not comfortable to use
  • The bass is not as satisfying as other JBL products

Again, its in-line control and built-in microphone only works with iOS devices. But if you do own an iOS device, the functions are really neat and easy to use. The built-in mic works flawlessly with an iPhone, allowing you to answer all your calls and returns to your music. The in-line control presents three control buttons which have the following functions: volume up, volume down and a multi-purpose button (for a variety of actions). The JBL high-performance drivers deliver one of the most precise and powerful sound I've experienced with in-ear headphones released this year. Although the bass is deep and pure, I have the feeling that it was overestimated by many advertisers. The bass and overall sound is clean and more than decent, but it's not that power JBL sound we've come to know and love.

The human ear comes in all shapes and sizes, so the guys at JBL took your comfort into consideration and added three silicon sleeves with the JBL J22 In-Eari Headphones. The sleeves come in three different sizes, from small to medium and large; these meant to enhance your comfort and isolate environmental sounds from the ear canal. If you need style in your headphones, these JBL J22i High-Performance In-Ear Headphones have it, no doubt. But, the flat elastomer cables are not only a design feature; these also are supposed to keep the headphone cables tangle-free. I haven't got the chance to test this out, but if you're really concerned about this you can always opt to transport them in their very own carry pouch.

Some headphones have a very under the radar, yet annoying problem; the headphones' jack usually does not work with most custom smartphone covers and cases. Well, with the JBL J22i's gold-plated jack this is not the case. The gold-plated jack incorporates an extension ring compatible with most smartphone covers and cases. And so, you don't have to take off the case (or cover) in order for the jack to fit and connect the headphones.

If you're not an obsessive audiophile looking for the most powerful bass delivery, I must say the JBL J22i High-Performance In-Ear Headphones with Microphone can be the choice for you; especially if you own an iOS device. With its 16ohm Input impedance and a frequency response of 18Hz – 20kHz, these in-ear headphones can satisfy even a pretentious buyer.
