Let’s take a small break from the whole portable speaker arena and focus on a somewhat light-weight, but ‘bigger’ home audio delivery system.  I just saw this really cool piece of audio equipment; a compact, 5.1-channel home theater system from JBL – from where I stand, a complete solution to many demands people have from compact systems nowadays.

There aren’t many user reviews I could focus on, but I got a hold of a few of the buyers that seem pleased with their choice and asked for their opinion. Let’s take a look at what the hard facts and the people have to say about this JBL wonder.

This unit was recently released and made available for purchase at Amazon on June 25, 2013. This comes as a quality, yet affordable alternative to its bigger brother, the JBL Cinema BD 300. I don't see it as currently gaining much popularity, in the Summer time; but once the weather cools down and people start watching TV again, I think this model will sell like crazy.

It's definitely bigger, and better, than you average small apartment audio system, but it's definitely worth the space it uses. And when it comes to price, I've seen much pricier units that couldn't compete with its performance.

Pros:
  • Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround decoding
  • Bluetooth wireless streaming
Cons:
  • No USB thumb-stick playback feature

Now, let's get down to facts. The JBL Cinema BD100 system comes packed with a receiver that will complement any stunning visual clarity (video up to 1080p) of the movies you play on Blu-ray Discs; as well as the sound which it will 'fill' with powerful bass and full-range sound all across the six channels. If you're a real movie buff, you're going to enjoy the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio coding features; these allow you to hear the sounds the movie makers intended you to hear. It also feaures Dolby Pro Logic II. What this does is it basically turns any type of stereo source, into full surround sound experience (includes MP3s and online videos). The one thing you can count on is that JBL doesn't do 'half things' with their complete systems. The JBL Cinema BD 100 receiver and speakers were engineered to work together as a unit.

The Cinema BD100 comes with four 2-1/2-inch (63.5 mm) satellite full-range speakers. The four are voice-matched between each other and the single 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) centre speaker for a complete optimized surround-sound performance. But, as we all know, when it comes to JBL, the subwoofer is the one that makes the 'sell'. This units doesn't make an exception (fortunately). Its 5-1/4-inch (133 mm) transducer will produce the all-praised and powerful low frequencies that give you a scent of realism in every scene. It's been a long time since I've seen such high-fidelity audio and powerful bass coming out of a unit that costs so little compared to its similar competitions.

Well, it wasn't such a great deal if the Cinema BD100 wouldn't have a great range of streaming capabilities, would it!? Fortunate enough, it features the one thing that makes all the difference - Bluetooth; that means you can stream music directly from any of your Bluetooth enabled device, including smartphones, tablets and PCs. Also, this home theater system allows you to stream entertaining content directly from online content services and sources, such as YouTube and Pandora. And to top everything off, the Cinema BD100 lets you stream audio content from any DLNA-compatible devices you have linked to your home entertainment network. This provides you with easy access to your audio entertainment; it basically offers you better sound than the source devices can offer. Everything I mentioned might seem complicated non-techie people get scared. But the people that bought it stated that the color-coded wires featured in the package make the setup process kiddie play.

I paid more for only a piece of the equation JBL is offering at this price. Honestly I think this would be worth the money if you only get a similar receiver (users love it), without the speaker set. it might not be as full of fancy features, but I don't think you'll find any simple, straight forward audio system that sounds as good as this one, for this price. I totally recommend it! please check the link below for information on current price.
